Knightsbridge
Attributed to a piece of furniture commissioned by the Fourth Earl of Chesterfield, Philip Stanhope, Knightsbridge describes sofas that are comfortable, usually upholstered in quilted leather, and detailed with a buttoned back. The name now denotes sofas that include some or all of these characteristics, as well as over-stuffing or rolled arms. Part of its allure is its universal appeal -- and as Ralph Lauren has described it -- its casual grandeur. The timeless style and universal appeal of the Knightsbridge make it a versatile and suitable sofa for a diverse range of interiors.
